The company released Hotfix Display Driver version 581.94 on June 27, 2025 specifically to address the performance degradation issues. The single patch note confirms the driver fixes “lower performance observed in some games after updating to Windows 11 October 2025 KB5066835.” Users experiencing frame rate drops or stuttering should download the hotfix directly from Nvidia’s website or through the Nvidia app. After installation, a system reboot is required, and Nvidia recommends testing games to verify performance improvements.
The Windows update that broke things
